Norms for admittance to the Third Cycle - Doctorate
1. A student may be admitted to the third cycle who:
1. has obtained the Licence Degree in our University with a minimum average mark of 8.5/10 in all the examinations and seminars of the second cycle, as well as in the Tesina and in every Licence examination.
2. has obtained a canonical Licence Degree in another institution with a sufficient mark to be admitted to the Doctorate in that institution. In such a case the Dean of our Faculty may consult the Dean of the original institution. If the said institution does not have a third cycle, the above norms of § 1.a will be applied.
2. The admission to the third cycle and the approval of the theme of the thesis are two different stages and are to be paid for consecutively.
3. It is recommended that in the future students shall inform the Dean, even before enrolment, about the theme they wish to eventually pursue for their thesis so that the Dean can ascertain in advance of the availability of a Moderator and a second reader for the same.
4. The plan of the thesis should be signed by the candidate, the moderator and the second reader nominated by the Dean, and then submitted to the Commission of the Faculty.
5. The plan of the thesis shall indicate the language/s necessary for the study of the theme and the approval of the plan attests to the knowledge of the language/s on the part of the student, the moderator and the second reader.
6. The Dean shall verify the required knowledge of the language/s necessary for the preparation of the thesis on the part of the student, the moderator and the second reader.
7. The system of attendance is determined by each Faculty.
8. The thesis shall be written, defended and published according to norms determined by the Faculty and the General Secretariat.
These norms were approved by the Academic Senate of the University on 4th March 2010 and will come into force with the scholastic year 2010-2011.
