OUTLINE OF THE AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATION BETWEEN THE PONTIFICIAL UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (ANGELICUM) AND THE PONTIFICIAL GREGORIAN UNIVERSITY
The Rector of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University recognize in the cultural and scientific relations between universities an indispensable tool for reciprocal understanding of the cultures for the advancement and the dissemination of knowledge.
Motivated by this spirit of cooperation in areas and projects of common interest, it is intended to promote the following measures, in addition to specific stipulations of the individual academic units in compliance with this agreement.
Ordinary and Extraordinary students of each of the two universities can choose courses in each other’s institutions with the approval of its academic Authority. These courses would be recognized as optional courses in their personal curriculum.
Also recognized is the use of the library facilities of the other institution for the period of registration (semester or year).
Students who decide to take advantage of this agreement must exhibit at the time of registration, a certificate of registration in the institution of origin, containing the enrolment number and the authorization of one’s own Dean. All the procedures of enrolment and registration are carried out by the student, without requiring the signature of the Dean of the host institution.
Envisaged is a mutual recognition of the examinations and the civil and academic formalities determined by the respective Institutions.
Students who attend their host Institution are recognized as Guest students and can choose to frequent one or two courses; they may not choose seminars and courses which of their nature are not open to guest students (limited number courses, ancient language courses etc.).
The total fee for each course, chosen from among those proposed specifically or freely offered by either host institution, is 100.00 euro and includes the entrance to the library.
If the selected courses are part of a specific agreement, the two Administrations may regulate the respective compensation; in the case of freely chosen courses the student shall directly pay the host institution the cost of the courses chosen.
The host institution does not issue certificates, with the exception of the certificate of the examination results to be incorporated into the personal curriculum of the student for the home Institution.
The present agreement is stipulated for the year 2010/2011. It shall be tacitly renewed every year except in the case of its termination by one of the parties who shall communicate the same to the other party in writing within three months of the expiry of the agreement.
The terms and conditions of this agreement, as well as allied executive matters, must comply with the laws and statutes governing the respective institutions. The parties are therefore not obliged to honour any undertaking in any convention which infringe on this principle.
The Universities shall undertake to diffuse this agreement as per the modality of the two institutions.
